CHALLENGE

HarperOne partnered with Magnet Media to help promote the 2020 releases of a series of new titles, including Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue’s “What Makes A Marriage Last” and Bakari Sellers’ “My Vanishing Country”.

Magnet was tasked with three goals:

I. REACH
To expand the reach and visibility of each book by generating huge excitement.

II. ENGAGEMENT
To engage the audience on digital channels.

III. SALES
To use social media and digital channels to establish both books as elite "best-sellers" by converting visitors to book-buying customers.

STRATEGY

Magnet Media created a multi-channel solution that incorporated custom-built Instagram stories, managing a calendar of high-quality, targeted daily social posts plus sourcing and managing influencers. 

We also brokered a partnership with leading publisher The Knot to further expand awareness of “What Makes A Marriage Last.”

The results of this collaboration were off the charts: both books became best sellers, and Harper is now strategizing with Magnet to take the strategy to their larger catalog of book-launches.  How did we do it? RESULTS

The results of this collaboration have been off the charts. Both summer releases became best-sellers, and Harper doubled down by tapping Magnet to support the launch of a larger catalog of book launches.

With Magnet support, Harper had its best Q4 ever, with revenue up 23% led by a 15% jump in digital audio and ebook sales.

Magnet also then won Harper’s launch event partnership with Cicely Tyson’s “Just as I Am,” which passed Barack Obama’s book to become No. 1 on the Amazon and NYT’s Bestseller lists.
