Eager to continue providing financial education resources to youth and young adults, U.S. Bank wanted to create a video series that was upbeat and fun but also packed with helpful tips. The main focus of the series would be managing checking accounts, but related topics such as overdraft risks, credit scores, and preparing to transition out of college would also be covered.

Magnet recommended producing a series of video assets which highlighted the benefits of maintaining a student checking account, and the responsibilities that came with it. Knowing that people in this age group resist being “sold to” and more easily related to members of their own generation, we hired a young actress to be our reporter-on-the-scene. We asked her to interview real students about their financial knowledge, challenges, and goals, then wove in animations to reinforce key takeaways.

RESULT

We filmed more than 25 student interviews in a single shoot day, covering multiple topics and asking dozens of tough questions. By utilizing an unscripted approach, we were able to capture authentic insights and real honesty around what is often an uncomfortable subject. The resulting videos balance real stories from a diverse group of students with easy, actionable advice from U.S. Bank designed to set viewers on the path to long-term financial success.
