Viola Davis releases a memoir
HarperCollins publishing imprint HarperOne and Magnet partnered to develop a live virtual event for the release of Viola Davis’s much-anticipated memoir, Finding Me.
In anticipation of the release of Viola Davis’ debut memoir, Finding Me, HarperOne partnered with Magnet to host an exclusive virtual event aimed at propelling the book onto the New York Times Bestseller list. The 45-minute program featured a conversation between Davis and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, along with a live audience Q&A with the award-winning actress. Magnet managed all technical aspects, including directing, control boarding, and quality control, while also creating a landing page and promotional assets, including a video featuring user-generated content from young women sharing how Davis has inspired them. Invitations were extended to those who preordered the book from select Black-owned bookstores, and the event drew over 900 attendees—HarperOne’s largest virtual turnout to date. Due to high demand, Magnet also hosted a 24-hour event replay. The event’s success contributed to Finding Me debuting on the New York Times Best Seller list.
