National Geographic's rap series

National Geographic Kids sought fresh, fun, original content for its digital properties in an effort to appeal to and engage with kids. Magnet obliged.

Challenge

National Geographic Kids is a leading children's magazine. They sought fresh, fun, and original edutainment content for its digital properties that would engage and appeal to kids and parents alike.

Solution

Magnet pitched the idea of an animated video series featuring Barry the Bald Eagle who flies across the U.S. to meet state birds and raps about the history, nature, and attractions in each state. The episodes required a mix of strategic research and creative insights to write catchy and informative rap lyrics for each state. During this process, we worked with musicians to record the tracks and worked with an animation team to bring the music, places, and characters to life. This new series bolstered National Geographic Kids’ already impressive collection of original series and was a finalist in Cynopsis Kids Imagination Awards.

The new series bolsters National Geographic Kids’ already impressive collection of original series online including another produced by Magnet called Nat Geo Kids on YouTube. 50 Birds was a finalist in the Cynopsis Kids Imagination Awards in the category of Interstitial Series, and is now in production for more episodes to cover even more U.S. ground!
